Very well-written and very similar thoughts to what I have written on the subject (although you went much deeper into your own personal struggles and thanks for sharing those).

As Master Yoda suggested, we learn as much from mistakes and failures as we do from success and perfect heroes probably don’t teach us much about what we actually experience in our own lives (which is usually that imperfect balance of light and darkness you mentioned IME).

One nuance I have been talking about is that what Luke did was address the obvious and growing holes between Jedi lore and what the Jedi are actually able to do. They did fail to stop Palpatine, despite being trained by Kenobi and Yoda Luke could not stop Ben Solo from becoming Kylo Ren, and even after reading the Jedi sacred texts…Luke could not be certain in his faith.

Despite this, he kept struggling and trying to find the truth. His explanation of the force to Rey in their first lesson was one of the most nuanced we have heard in the entirety of the series which suggests that even after he cut himself off from the force, he was still thinking about the force.

Anyway, great piece!!!
