Sometimes what we lose is supplanted by what we gain. It is natural for each generation to bemoan the death of it’s heroes (writers, styles of music, beloved old school materials) but the kids are almost always alright.

I may be nostalgic for the days of the typewriter but, when push comes to shove, I don’t really want to turn in my laptop.

There is a book by Scott Sagan called Biospheres which suggests that even the death of the natural world might itself be part of an evolutionary project.

I am not sure I entirely agree with Mr. Sagan, and I certainly get where you are coming from, but change is inevitable.
