My Top 5 “Most Popular” Mr. Robot Posts

I write a Mr. Robot recap called “Who Is Mr. Robot’s Landlord” and just posted the fourth entry in my “Predicting Robot” series about possible futures for Mr. Robot’s Season 3 (USA Network) on my blog OnPirateSatellite.com. I also just posted a roundup of a bunch of new Mr. Robot interactive opportunities that were launched during San Diego Comic Con.

Here is the list of the top 5 most popular Mr. Robot related posts I have ever written.

5. Understanding Friendship (Predicting Robot)

Predicting Robot is my new series discussing possible futures for Elliot and the rest of the Mr. Robot universe. Understanding Friendship was a post attempting to get to the bottom of the relationship between Elliot Alderson and his audience of friends (aka us). Along the way I discussed the relationship between Sam Elliot and Baudrillard, David Lynch, and Jose Louis Borges.

4. Tales From a Red Wheelbarrow Part 4 Mazes, Masks, and Robin Hood

Was it crazy to write a 20 part deep dive into a book that was less than 200 pages long, sure. But it was a really popular series and I felt like I learned a lot in the process of carefully considering every page of Sam Esmail & Courtney Looney’s series companion book (here is a picture of my copy).

Anyway, part four was my first mention of what I know call my “Lucid Dream” theory of Mr. Robot. I also discussed E-Corp merchandising (ironic since a new E-Corp website just went up) and Darlene’s love for the movie Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.

3. David Foster Wallace & The David Lynch in Mr. Robot

My very first Twitter conversation with Sam Esmail was me asking about how he felt about David Lynch. Imagine my surprise when he responded (several times). This post was where I first really dove deeply into the relationship between Sam, the show, and the work of David Lynch through the lens of a piece the late David Foster Wallace wrote about Lynch.

2. Tales From A Red Wheelbarrow Part 18 “DEVOtion”

So, as I was reading Red Wheelbarrow, it started to become apparent to me that Elliot might not actually be the dominant personality in what I have come to know as Elliot Prime (Elliot has Dissociative Identity Disorder which means that his ‘personalities’ are part of a fragmented whole). This post was mostly a defense of this theory and the idea that Mr. Robot might really be the prime driver of E Prime.

1. Mr. Robot vs. The Criticism of Matt Zoller Seitz

Movie and television critic Matt Zoller Seitz is generally a fan of Mr. Robot but he was highly critical of Season 2. For this post, I collected all of his criticisms throughout the entire season and answered them one at a time. I must have done okay because the post drew responses from Mr. Zoller Seitz, Sam Esmail, and it has become my most popular Mr. Robot post of all time.
