Molly’s Game tells the story of a former Olympic-level skier who gets injured and runs away to Los Angeles to escape her father’s influence. In the process of finding her way she is hired to run a poker game, takes what she learns and creates one of the biggest games in the country, and then gets caught up in the middle of a gigantic Federal RICO investigation.
<When I say caught up, what I really mean is that Molly was charged with racketeering so that a Federal Prosecutor could force her to testify against the Russian mob>.
This movie dredged up serious memories for me.
I used to be a mediocre Online Poker player.
In fact, until the Federal Government decided to make daily online poker illegal, I could be counted on to make extremely small amounts of money on low-limit tables virtually every night. Once work was over for the day, I would eat dinner, watch television, and then play poker until I fell asleep (rinse and repeat). I even managed to pay for a few vacations playing poker (by being a grinder not by being particularly good).
