It is impossible to argue, after what happened to Gaddafi, that any so-called ‘rogue state’ attempting to acquire nuclear weapons is irrational.

It is clearly in a state’s interest to protect themselves from US intervention by raising the costs of such interference.

It is also bizarre that the nuclear nations continue to call people crazy for wanting nuclear weapons (the entire premise of Article VI of the NPT is based on resolving this tension).

But, I guess it is just easier keep saying the same old things, even though they make no sense, because it makes everyone feel better.
