In my opinion, and with all due respect, this is a misreading of the situation. Zhang is ‘whiterose’ and while he is the Defense Minister of China, he is usually acting as the head of the Dark Army (a sub-national hacking collective most likely connected to China but also following their own agenda).

In addition, the scapegoat being set up is not China it is Iran and the show is doing it in a very purposeful way as fake.

The beauty of Mr. Robot is that it has never been about a plucky hacker collective trying to take down an evil corporation.

What has it been about? The ethics of corporatism, the ethics of revolution (and how easy it is for revolution to be coopted), the ethics of government, and the ethics of being a person stuck in an unjust and complicated world.

That said, you have every right to your opinion, and I could certainly be wrong (some people certainly believe that Zhang/’whiterose’ = China).
