I wrote a ten-part series last year after the season ended about the most offensive and idiotic turns the series took in series 6. In my recaps of season 6 I gave out a “Jar Jar Binks Award” every week to the silliest violence Benioff and Weiss did to the logic of the GRRM universe. Most people overlooked the idiocy because they loved the cinematic spectacle but I couldn’t look past how much damage it did to the internal logic of the characters and plot.
The number 1 on my top-10 list was “Battle of the Bastards” which, I contend was too stupidly executed for a boy playing with toy soldiers to even accidentally replicate.
Beautiful and exciting to watch since S5 but the logic has become, at best, paper-thin and often entirely sacrificed to creating larger and larger spectacle.
