I could care less if Ayn Rand called herself a philosopher or not, I think her ideas are terrible and amoral.

Again, the choice depends on your own moral compass but in most instances, unless you have immense power, you will rarely face lifeboat ethics situations. I was responding to the idea that avoiding the choice would have no cost.
