Due respect, but almost every word of what you just said was wrong.

Here let’s do a simple thought experiment:

What was the difference between:

Young Luke being corrected constantly, warned away from being hot-headed, and learning tough life-lessons

and

Young Poe being corrected constantly, being warned away from being hot-headed, and learning tough life-lessons

Yup, exactly, Luke’s mentors were men.

I didn’t notice you complaining about Yoda sitting down with Luke “Force Ghost Style” to give him sage advice and moving him from a stubborn back to a sensible path in Last Jedi…was that mentorship okay?

Also, why is being a “liberal Feminist” or having attended Berkeley offensive to you? Your ideology is showing.

All the men in Last Jedi are cowards, failures, inept, or suffer from toxic masculinity???

How was Luke a coward or toxically masculine?

— By the way, all characters in the Star Wars universe have always been “failures” and/or “inept” (until they succeeded) because life is like that. Remember the 100 mistakes young Luke made <but for Ben’s help, he would have died in the Cantina at the hands of someone who didn’t like him…remember how Leia constantly corrected Han?> —

How was Finn a coward or toxically masculine?

Remember when he was ready to sacrifice himself, driving directly into an energy weapon, in order to save the Rebellion? Remember the gentleness with which he treated Rey and Rose?

Or was your point that Kylo, who literally kills his (much more powerful) Master to take control of the First Order and keep Rey alive, was a “coward?”

Even DJ seemed more strategic than cowardly (he did several things that would have to be classified as heroic when it suited his purposes).

Look, you have every right IN THE WORLD to your own opinion of The Last Jedi. I mean you zero disrespect. We can 1000% agree to disagree, but I find your take very unpersuasive.

There are certainly problems with The Last Jedi:

  • Leia would certainly have died before she woke up and used her force powers a la Mary Poppins
  • It is probably a terrible idea to have Force Ghosts able to use their force powers in the corporeal world
  • The chase made no sense at all (since ostensibly the First Order could call on reinforcements to hem in the Rebels or use hyperdrive).

I do, however, embrace your call for more female directors in future Star Wars movies (will you be boycotting on behalf of that cause too?).
