Katie and Allison Crutchfield have put out an astounding amount of music since 2007. With the new Waxahatchee album coming out in just a few days (and after putting P.S. Eliot on my newest playlist), here are four projects by the sisters that you might enjoy:
- Waxahatchee — This is Katie’s current band (the name is a reference to a body of water), responsible for several great albums like Ivy Tripp, Cerulean Salt, and the forthcoming Out In The Storm (the release date is next week but you can stream it now on NPR)Allison also sings backup with Waxahatchee (and often fills in on several instruments).
- Allison Crutchfield — Earlier this year, Allison put out a full-length solo album “Tourist In This Town” and it got a lot of seriously positive press. She also previously put out a 2014 solo EP called “Lean In To It.”
- Swearin’ — Allison was the front-person for this short-lived but interesting band (more of a punk feel).
- P.S. Eliot — Starting about seven years ago, Allison and Katie used to create music together under this moniker. In 2016, Don Giovani records put out a compilation of P.S. Eliot recordings called 2007–2011 which includes a great deal of previously hard to find material (It also was accompanied by a reunion tour).
All week I will be doing deep dives into the rest of the bands and artists on my playlist. Explore, enjoy, and share music!
